Off the Boat (So to Speak)

As the captain came over the loudspeaker to notify us that we should put away our tray tables and prepare for landing, he casually mentioned that at the current time of 1:45 am, the temparture in Dubai was 98 degrees. When I arrived at the hotel, the Pakistani Night Club (a noted on the plaque outside the door) was in full swing (3 am on a Monday night - who says you can't let your hair down in Dubai).

I've begun my journey in Dubai at the Royal Falcon Hotel (where Jay was able to save both time and money, pleasing him to no end). Not quite feeling like royalty, but chalk it up to experience when you've eaten your breakfast in the Pakistani night club the morning after, had to push a button next to the bathroom door in order to turn on the hot water and are definitely the only white woman within a five mile radius. Because I am only thinking happy thoughts as I embark upon my journey, I will catageroize this as a very authentic experience.

See for yourself http://www.royalfalconhotel.ae/.

However, we can't really stay in Dubai without living on top of one of the world's largest shopping malls, can we? So we move to The Address next week, which will be our home for two months and, I probably wont' be that put off that I have to walk through Bloomingdales in order to exit my residence each day. http://www.theaddress.com/

But I will absolutely be seeking out many more authentic experiences to share while in Dubai.

And so begins my adventure...
